A rare 19th century Addis Ababa house
This historic building, constructed in 1890, is a precious survival of a 19th century house in Addis Ababa. The Trust has been caring for the building since 2004 and has carried out extensive restoration to the building, which now serves as the headquarters of the Trust.
The house was owned by Ras (a title of nobility) Kebede Mengesha, who, during the reign of Haile Selassie, took part in the resistance against the Fascist Italian forces during their invasion of Ethiopia. He died in 1939.
